A real-time 3D simulation of our solar system running entirely in your browser. All eight planets and the Sun are modelled as a full N-body gravitational system using a symplectic leapfrog integrator with initial conditions sourced from NASA's JPL Horizons database, meaning the planets start at their true positions and velocities as of January 1, 2000. Drag to rotate the view in three dimensions, scroll to zoom, and click any planet to see its live orbital data — current distance from the Sun, orbital speed, eccentricity, inclination, and more. Crank up the simulation speed to watch Neptune complete its 165-year orbit in seconds, or slow it down to observe Mercury's rapid perihelion precession up close.
